We dried oranges/limes/lemons, mod podged pages from a music book onto Christmas balls, wood-burned designs onto slices of tree limbs, wrapped balls in twine, etc. Though, doing this could be equally fun with younger kids! I left all my decorations in the attic and spent December making hand-made decorations with my grandkids, adding each to the tree as it was finished. My grown children are really busy this time of year, so I 'stole' the grandkids (ages 15, 18 and 20). I replaced our old tree with a pre-lit 7 foot pencil tree. Decorating the tree became kind of boring because I used the same artificial tree, the same decorations, etc.
